Yet again, it’s been almost a week since I updated the blog (sorry guys, it’s just we’re super busy cooking up our new store – so please forgive us!).
I’m hoping I can win back your love with this little mid-week freebie, cooked up especially to be used with 300dpi flyers – a free chrome layer style for Photoshop!
I’m a big fan of Photoshop’s layer styles and ‘fx’ panel, regularly delving into it to create editable text elements for use within templates. After all, the more editable and useable a template is, the better.
One thing I’m always creating a lot of and editing as per project is metallic and chrome layer styles, specifically for text elements.
And yes, it’s true, before you mention it – there are a whole plethora of freestyles available online (even with commercial use), however, most of them are created at 72dpi and (even though they claim to scale equally) they mess up when pasted onto the high-resolution text.
I think this is because some elements in the ‘fx’ panel are measured in PX, and others in Percent, but I could be wrong on that!
So, to freshen up the blog seeing as all we’ve posted these past few weeks is free flyer templates, (Like I’ve heard any complaints about that LOL!) I thought I’d share this resource.
You’ll need this font!
I’m no layer styles pro, but after following a few tutorials to get the hang of creating really badass chrome and metallic styles, I spent some time (practicing, granted) and cooked up this bad boy.
I’ve since used it in several premium templates and thought now was as good a time as any to share it with you :)
